JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Center for Management Studies, under its Student Research and Development Cell – Vidhyanidhi, carried out a three-session national-level HR seminar titled Reimagining People Management and Employee Experience on July 23, 2021.
Dr. Harold Andrew Patrick, Professor and Dean - CMS Business School, addressed the first session. The topic of the session was Managing People. Dr. Patrick began the session with a story conveying that every person is unique and there should be no comparison amongst people. He narrated another story empowering managerial skills in which he included his personal experiences. He discussed at length human nature and judge mentalism. He provided examples to make students understand why being judgemental is not good. He quoted Aristotle and Descartes to describe human nature and also discussed Hedonism. He offered students an insight into Stephen Covey’s view on the Power of Visualization. The session concluded on the note, “Submission comes before obedience.”
The second session was by Dr. Ujjal Mukherjee, Associate Professor and Area Chair - Human Resources, CMS Business School, who conferred his views on the topic, How to Train the Wild? He spoke about different training techniques by giving an example of dolphin training. The session helped the audience understand training in the most commendable way.
The last session had Ms. Dimple Das, Associate Director at Ernst & Young, express her views on the Future of Talent Acquisition. Ms. Das spoke about various viable ways of hiring employees and the scope of hiring employees during the pandemic. She also brushed up on the top priorities to keep in mind before hiring any individual in an organization.
Post each session, participants were allowed to ask questions and clear their doubts. The sessions were very informative for the aspiring HRs and the ones interested in the field of talent acquisition in the near future.
