23 September 2022

Bengaluru, 22 September 2022: The final-year Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) students undertook an academic visit to IKEA on 22 September 2022 as part of their experiential learning curriculum. The visit was organised to strengthen students’ understanding of contemporary retail operations, supply chain systems, and customer engagement practices implemented by a globally recognised brand.

During the visit, students explored IKEA’s distinctive store layout, product zoning strategy, and self-service model, observing how the brand seamlessly integrates design, affordability, and sustainability across its offerings. The visit also provided an opportunity to examine IKEA’s efficient inventory management processes, in-store navigation system, and emphasis on customer-centric retail experiences. Faculty members accompanying the cohort facilitated discussions linking classroom concepts to real-world applications in retail management, operations, and branding.

Commenting on the significance of the visit, the programme coordinator stated, “Academic field exposure of this nature is essential for bridging theoretical learning with practical industry insights. The visit to IKEA enabled our students to observe global best practices in retail management and appreciate how strategic design, supply chain efficiency, and sustainable thinking shape modern business operations.”

The educational experience enhanced students’ analytical and observational skills, enabling them to critically reflect on evolving retail trends and operational models—such initiatives further the University’s commitment to fostering industry-ready graduates equipped with practical knowledge and professional competencies.
